We highly encourage parental and caregiver support in therapy. Attending therapy sessions will help you learn the techniques used by RISE Pediatric Therapies. You can then use them at home. Constant communication with your child’s therapist keeps you informed during the entire process, allowing you to make any changes as we implement them. Consistency between the home and office leads to optimal results for your child and your family. Parents, caregivers, and therapists together make a formidable team to support your child’s development.
How long therapy continues depends on several factors such as the severity of the difficulty, your child’s maturity and age, the number of sessions recommended, family involvement, and any co-occurring conditions.
Services We Offer:
Pediatric occupational therapy specializes in supporting children in developing skills they need for daily life, such as using scissors, dressing themselves, and improving their handwriting. At RISE Pediatric Therapies, we target the development of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, visual-perceptual skills, emotional regulation, sensory processing and integration, and hand-eye coordination. We tailor sessions to your child’s current needs.
Pediatric speech and language therapy addresses communication and swallowing disorders in children. Depending on the age of the child, we cover several skills, including language, speech, fluency, voice, and social communication. We can also support children in developing safe, effective feeding and eating practices or using a communication device.
Our pediatric psychological services involve testing children to help parents and caregivers understand their child’s strengths as well as areas for improvement.
Coordinated care involves creating a team of professionals from multiple disciplines, directed by the Team Lead, who work together to support your child in their growth and development. It is deeply personalized to your child’s needs and recognizes the importance of the parent/caregiver’s involvement on the team.
Applied behavior analysis focuses on identifying behaviors, improving behaviors, and teaching new skills (often to replace a previous behavior). We use positive reinforcement to increase beneficial behaviors and to decrease interfering behaviors. ABA training may include functional living skills, functional communication skills, one-on-one therapy, and other skills.
Feeding therapy supports safe swallowing, feeding, and eating practices in children. We also prioritize helping children appreciate a wide variety of foods in their diet by slowly introducing new foods. We want to make mealtimes a fun, positive experience and support optimal growth and nutrition in children.
Myofunctional therapy retrains the muscles of the throat and face so they function correctly. Improper muscle patterns and oral habits can cause problems with the actions of breathing, chewing, speech, swallowing, and sometimes sleeping. This therapy can help people of all ages from children to adults, as they practice specific movements of the throat, jaw, lips, and tongue.
Physical therapy helps children improve their endurance, balance, strength, motor skills, and coordination. The goal is to support your child in having control over how their body moves, helping them reach their developmental milestones.
RISE Pediatric Therapies is a provider for the state of Arizona and its AzEIP program. AzEIP provides free services and support to qualifying children from birth to up to 3 years of age with a significant disability or delay. This team-based model provides each child with a personalized team of professionals, which can include speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, developmental specialists, psychologists, and social workers.
DSI professionals are part of the early intervention program in Arizona, and they support young children from birth up to the age of 3 and their families who present with global delays, often in the areas of emotional skills development, motor skills development, social skills development, and/or cognitive development.
Coaching is an evidence-based, family-centered coaching style where providers coach parents and caregivers in how to replicate therapy methods during their everyday schedules and routines. It facilitates a healthy family dynamic and trusting relationships. We find that when parents are involved with their children’s therapy, it yields the best results.
DMI is based on cutting-edge research in the field of brain neuroplasticity. A certified DMI therapist helps a child perform guided movement patterns that retrain the brain and help improve mobility. Over time, the child’s movements become more automatic and efficient.
